The Bigueñong Christmas

Image
The Christmas Season here in Vigan City is not different with other provinces in our country. Here in Vigan we call Merry Christmas as “Naimbag a Paskua”. In our town, we like to celebrate it with our love ones. We also like to socialize and play games with our neighbors. Usually we would go to one house and we eat our Noche Buena there. Of course, we bring our share for our Noche Buena. However, that was all before COVID-19 happen. To be safe this season, our government made strict protocols for all of us. Now let us go during the pandemic. How did we celebrate Christmas as a bigue ñ o? Is it the same as it used to be, before the pandemic?               It has been almost 3 years since the pandemic started, that means that we encountered two Christmas Season during this crisis. In Vigan City, we light up parols to make sure the vibe of Christmas is still present. In the center part of the city, we can see differe...

The end of this quarter is just around the corner, I remember being nervous on how my grades are going to be last quarter. Time really flies so fast. This quarter may have been different from the previous one, but I can say that I learned a lot during the 2 nd quarter. ICT 2 nd quarter is pack with a lot of information I can use in the future.        This quarter I gained a lot of knowledge and information about HTML. I learned the basics of HTML, HTML tags, and many more. It is hard to understand during the first days since it is my first time learning about HTML files. Nevertheless, with the right guidance and information given, I can say it may be hard but it is easy to learn. The struggles that I encountered is probably the HTML tags is not working properly. This is the only struggle I encountered throughout the whole quarter. I solved the issue by asking our teacher that the tag is not working properly, she helped me explain everyt...

The Modern Me

Image
We start our year with a bang. Fireworks are blasting in our skies, people are cheering “Happy New Year” some are jumping, and some are praying to give us a beautiful year. As January 1 passes by we can see a lot of post in social media with the captions “New Year, New Me”, “Changing this New Year”, and “Entering the year, with a new me”. We Filipinos are known for having the grandest celebrations when it comes to New Year, Christmas, and even Fiesta’s. 2021 is truly a blast for all of us, and opening a new chapter of our lives is a cheerful part for all of us.             A new chapter to our lives must be a joyful feeling but it has the feeling of being anxious on what this year has stored for us. We are all hopeful to have a blessed and happy 2022. No more COVID-19 cases, no more deaths because of this virus, and us being able to free ourselves form lockdowns and quarantines caused by this virus. We also want to give our...

The Spirit of Christmas amidst the Pandemic

Image
As we near the Christmas 2021, we can already feel the cold breeze that signifies the near celebration is coming. As the pandemic shatters almost all of public places, our churches, tourist spots, and also theme parks have closed. We experienced our first pandemic Christmas in 2020, and as we celebrate it this 2021, we can all say that, everything is much better without the virus or the pandemic.               The Christmas season is already coming in, and as we are recovering from this pandemic, we really love to see a normal type of Christmas. The Christmas here in our country is a very meaningful celebration, it is where we bond with each other, we have reunions, and also where we see that we care for each other. When the pandemic strike us, we were wishing that the virus will be gone before December for us to enjoy the celebration and meet up without love ones. As everything is going back to normal, we see great changes in our world. Now tha...

A Bright Future our Children

Image
As we go on lockdown because of the pandemic, it gave us a hard time to adjust, most especially the children who are still learning. They did not experience the childhood dreams that they wanted to experiences. As they grow up they continue to adopt to the situation, they grow up and learn. It is a common right for children to be provided by their parents, but a lot of guardians and parents are neglecting this right. Children’s Month is a very special way in advocating for the rights of a child, and having this type of celebration really boost the awareness of people in children’s rights.             Children’s Month is a very special way in to giving respect for the children. This month is to promote the campaign “End violence to children”, this also serves as a platform to raise more awareness about the child’s rights, such as having a healthy life, food, shelter, clothes, and many more. It also promotes their emotional, and phy...

Environment for all

Image
As we grow older, we change. Just like our environment, it also changes. As time passes by our environment slowly degrades, we can see this before the pandemic. Before the pandemic people are littering, burning plastics, not following the proper waste segregation, and many more. As we went on lockdown, we have to stay in our homes, which resulted in the healing of our earth. Due to the lockdown we experiences some news that our earth is slowly going back to its original form, and being clean and green again. As we see small changes, we must continue this to see big changes. As a citizen, we must do everything that we can to make it good again.               There are many steps in protecting our environment, I narrowed it down to two simple ones but I consider this very helpful. First, we must know ourselves, ask yourself “Am I making the earth better or I make it worse?” As we get to know ourselves, we slowly learn the thing...
